The Automation Engineering Department & Mechatronoptic Systems Institute is the result of the merger of the Department of Automation Engineering and the Institute of Mechatronoptic Systems. The Institute of Mechatronoptic Systems, approved in 2000, is derived from the Mechatronoptic Technology Research Center, established in 1996. The Automation Engineering Department and Institute of Mechatronoptic Systems proceeded to merge, completing changes in August 2003. This department annually recruits freshmen for its day and night undergraduate programs as well as graduate students for its master’s program. In addition, a special class at the master’s level was established, supported by industry for specifically for research and development.
